Board approves Heart Lake SS and Fletcher's Meadow accommodation plan
The board approved that, effective September 2003, all grades 9 & 10 students living in the following area be redirected to Harold M. Brathwaite S.S. for the 2003-2004 school year:
Commencing at the intersection of Creditview Road and Wanless Drive
then east along Wanless Drive to McLaughlin Road
then south along McLaughlin Road to Highway #7 West
then east along Highway #7 West to the St. Lawrence & Hudson Railway
then south along the St. Lawrence & Hudson Railway to Williams Parkway
then west along Williams Parkway to McLaughlin Road
then south along McLaughlin Road to the CN Railway
then north west along the CN Railway to Creditview Road
then north along Creditview Road to the point of commencement.There are currently 1,856 students enrolled at Heart Lake Secondary School requiring 14 portables on site. If no action is taken to redirect students from Heart Lake, the enrolment for September 2003 could be 2,450 students requiring an additional 23 portables, bringing the total portable count to 37. The board conducted community consultation around the implementation of the redirection of all grades 9 and 10 students living in the redirected area to Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School.
Board Cancels International Travel
The board has cancelled, because of recent and ongoing world events, all board sponsored or arranged student travel to international destinations, including the United States scheduled to leave before March 31, 2003. The administration will continue to monitor the world situation and bring further recommendations to the board to ensure student safety. Said Janet McDougald, chair of the Peel District School Board, " Though I know there will be disappointment at the cancellation of these trips, our first priority is to protect the safety and security of our students and staff."

The board approved the following principal assignment, effective Apr. 1, 2003:
Sue Stevens from principal at Owenwood Public School to principal at Robert H. Lagerquist Sr. Public School
Elementary Vice-Principal Assignments and Appointments
The board approved the following vice-principal appointment, effective Mar. 5, 2003:
Richard Williamson from acting vice-principal at Parkholme School to vice-principal at Parkholme School
The board approved the following vice-principal assignments, effective Mar. 17, 2003:
Bonnie Green from vice-principal at Earnscliffe Sr. Public School to vice-principal at Aloma Cres. Public School
Wendy Dowling from teacher at Kindree Public School to acting vice-principal at Northwood Public School
John Harrower from teacher at Homestead Public School to acting vice-principal at Earnscliffe Sr. Public School
Cheryl Streete from resource teacher at Mississauga West Field Office to acting vice-principal at Great Lakes Public SchoolThe board approved the following vice-principal appointments, effective Mar. 17, 2003:
Leanne Cook from teacher at Centennial Sr. Public School to vice-principal at Castlebridge Public School
Virginia McKinnon from teacher at Silverthorn Public School to vice-principal at Hillcrest Public School
Pamela Sims from teacher at Hickory Wood Public School to vice-principal at Cherrytree Public School
