Board approves community consultation for several school boundaries
The board approved conducting a community consultation process to receive input on boundary proposals for the following schools:
- McCrimmon Middle School (new school)
- Edenbrook Hill Public School (new school)
- Worthington Public School (boundary change)
- Burnt Elm Public School (boundary change)
- Springdale Middle School (new school)
- Great Lakes Public School (boundary change)
- Mountainash Middle School (new school)
- Larkspur Public School (boundary change)
- Queen Street Public School (new school)
- Huttonville Public School (boundary change)

Board approves secondary school boundary changes in Mississauga
The board approved boundary changes for three secondary schools in Mississauga to accommodate growth in the Rick Hansen attendance area. The schools are: Streetsville Secondary School, Applewood Heights Secondary School and Rick Hansen Secondary School.
The board held two public meetings at Fairwind Senior Public School to obtain input from parents on the boundary changes. Without these changes, it is anticipated that the Rick Hansen enrolment could reach more than 2,600 students.
Effective September 2003, the Streetsville Secondary School attendance area will be expanded to include the following area:
- commencing at the intersection of Creditview Road and Britannia Road
- then north on Creditview Road to the Credit River
- then north along the Credit River to Highway #401
- then east on Highway #401 to Hurontario Street
- then south on Hurontario Street to Britannia Road
- then west on Britannia Road to the point of commencement
This area is the current attendance boundary for Britannia Public School. Students will attend Britannia Public School (K-5) then Dolphin Sr. Public School (6-8) and then Streetsville Secondary School (9-12).
Effective September 2003, the Applewood Heights Secondary School attendance area will be expanded to include the following area:
- commencing at the intersection of McLaughlin Road and Britannia Road
- then east along Britannia Road to Hurontario Street
- then south along Hurontario Street to Highway #403
- then west along Highway #403 to the west property line of the Madill Farm
- then north along the west property line of the Madill Farm to Eglinton Ave.
- then east along Eglinton Ave. to McLaughlin Road
- then north along McLaughlin Road to the point of commencement
This area is the current attendance boundary for Cooksville Creek Public School and the eastern portion of the Huntington Ridge Public School attendance area. Students will attend Cooksville Creek Public School or Huntington Ridge Public School (K-5) then Fairwind Sr. Public School (6-8) and then Applewood Heights Secondary School (9-12).
Effective September 2003, the Rick Hansen Secondary School attendance area will be as follows:
- commencing at the intersection of Highway #403 and the S L & H Railway Line
- then north along the S L & H Railway Line to Eglinton Ave.
- then east along Eglinton Ave. to Creditview Road
- then north along Creditview Road to Britannia Road
- then east along Britannia Road to McLaughlin Road
- then south along McLaughlin Road to Eglinton Ave.
- then west along Eglinton Ave. to the west property line of the Madill Farm
- then south along the west property line of the Madill Farm to Highway #403
- then west along Highway #403 to the point of commencement

Board sets Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School boundary
In September 2003, Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School will open for students in grades 9 and 10. The board held a public consultation at Great Lakes Public School to review the proposed boundary and organization, the effect on North Park Secondary School and Chinguacousy Secondary School, and obtain input from parents.
Effective September 2003, the 9-10 boundary for Haorld M. Brathwaite Secondary School will be as follows:
- commencing at the intersection of Heart Lake Road and Bovaird Drive
- then north along Heart Lake Road to Mayfield Road
- then east along Mayfield Road to Torbram Road
- then south along Torbram Road to Bovaird Drive
- then west along Bovaird Drive to the point of commencement
Effective September 2003, the 9-12 boundary for North Park Secondary School will be adjusted as follows:
- commencing at the intersection of Queen Street East and Highway 410 North
- then north along Highway 410 North to Bovaird Drive
- then east along Bovaird Drive to Bramalea Road
- then south along Bramalea Road to Queen Street East
- then west along Queen Street East to the point of commencement
Effective September 2003, the 9-12 Chinguacousy Secondary School boundary will be adjusted as follows:
- commencing at the intersection of Queen Street East and Bramalea Road
- then north along Bramalea Road to Bovaird Drive
- then east along Bovaird Drive to Torbram Road
- then north along Torbram Road to Mayfield Road
- then east along Mayfield Road to Airport Road
- then south along Airport Road to Castlemore Road
- then east along Castlemore Road to Highway 50
- then south along Highway 50 to Highway 407
- then west along Highway 407 to Torbram Road
- then north along Torbram Road to Queen Street East
- then west along Queen Street East to the point of commencement
