Board Highlights

Board approves Annual Accessibility Plan

In accordance with the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Peel board has developed its Annual Accessibility Plan for 2007-08 to help accommodate persons with disabilities and remove barriers in all schools and board environments. The purpose of the plan is to set priorities and plan for the prevention and removal of barriers over the long term.

The plan will enable the Peel board to plan and move ahead in a strategic way by setting goals, budgeting resources and setting performance measures and monitoring. For a full copy of the report, please visit the Peel board web site at www.peelschools.org and go to the 'Get the Facts' section.

Peel board captures coveted communication award

The Peel board was awarded the prestigious 2007 Gold Quill Award for excellence in communication, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). The board captured an Award of Excellence in the multi-lingual communication category for its multi-lingual websites in 25 languages.

The project was also selected as winner of the Business Issue Award. This award is given annually by the Gold Quill Blue Ribbon Panel. The panel chooses one entry that exemplifies the most outstanding work and strategic involvement on addressing a critical and current business issue that poses a significant threat to the economic well being and/or continued viability of their organization.

IABC's Gold Quill Awards program has been the hallmark of excellence in business communication for more than 35 years. The winners represent the best in organizational communication and their work plans serve as best practices for professional communicators across communication disciplines.
