Youth Award Programs
Canada Day Youth Award
The Canada Day Youth Award goes to a young person who has made an exceptional contribution to the community. The award consists of a framed certificate signed by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and an engraved momento.
Individuals, schools, post-secondary institutions, community groups and businesses can nominate an individual who is 18 years of age or younger and exemplifies the qualities of citizenship that strengthens society and enriches the quality of life. This young person must have made an outstanding contribution in an area such as community participation, promotion of Canadian values and sustainable development initiatives. A minimum of 100 hours of community service is suggested.
Nominations must be sent to the Canadian Heritage Regional Office no later than March 31.

Canadian Sanitation Supply Association Scholarship Award
Nine scholarships, totalling $2,000 CAD, are awarded each year to Canadian students attending college or university in Canada. This year's applicants must be individuals who have achieved high academic and leadership standards over the years and who are graduating secondary school in June 2008.
The awards are as follows: One “CSSA Scholarship Foundation” award will be offered in each of the following six regions: Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba & Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
- One International Sanitary Supply Association Foundation Scholarship
chosen from all the applicants. - One Sam Tughan Scholarship to be awarded to a qualified individual
studying Medicine. - One Geoffrey H. Wood Scholarship to be awarded to a qualified individual
studying Education.

The Colonel Douglas H. Gunter History Awards
Formerly the Canadian War Museum History Awards, the Colonel Douglas H. Gunter History Awards consist of five prizes of $1,000 to senior students who plan on graduating from secondary school in the spring of 2008. To qualify, each student must submit original work using one of the following mediums: The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2008.

Alliance of Jamaican Alumni Associations (Toronto) Awards Program Process
The Alliance of Jamaican Alumni Associations, (AJAA), is an umbrella organization in the Metro Toronto Area that represents past students of educational institutions in Jamaica.
AJAA launched its first annual Graduates Program in 1993. The goal of this program is to recognize the scholastic achievements of high school graduating students of Jamaican descent and encourage them to pursue post secondary education. To further enhance the program, a bursary was added in 1998. The number of bursaries awarded eacxh year depends on available funding and contributions.

Carol Anne Letheren Leadership and Sport Scholarship
The vision and objective of the Carol Anne Letheren Leadership and Sport Scholarship is to support the development of young women who demonstrate the potential to reach Carol Anne Letheren’s vision and capabilities and who aspire to core Olympic values of Excellence, Leadership, Respect, Human Development, Fun, Fairness, and Peace.
The scholarship is a national, three-year university scholarship totally $1,500 per year.

Jean Lumb Awards
Jean Lumb was the first Chinese Canadian woman and the first restauranteur to receive the Order of Canada for her work in the community. More notably Lumb is known for her role in changing immigration laws that separated Chinese families and for her efforts in saving Chinatowns in Toronto and other cities.
The Jean Lumb Awards are given to four outstanding students who have achieved excellence in academics, athletics, the arts and community services. The value of each award is $1,000. Padgett Scholarship Program
The Padgett Scholarship Program offers financial support to the dependents of owners of small, independent businesses throughout North America. A series of $500 educational scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who will continue their education at accredited post-secondary institutions. Each regional winner will become eligible for one international $4,000 scholarship. Since 1990, Padgett has awarded over $600,000 to dependants of small business owners.
