"We
can hear all around us the murmuring demands for change. We are
on the edge of a political renewal with the ambition to create a
kinder, more just and peaceful world."
-Lloyd Axworthy, Canada's former Minister of Foreign Affairs
On-going
conflict, corrupt government, wide-spread disease and natural disasters
have resulted in the destruction of infrastructure in different
areas of the globe.
The
War on Terror, South Asian tsunami, South Asian earthquake and Africa's
AIDS pandemic, among other issues, have shown us how human life
is effected when things like access clean water, electricity, social
services, education, health care, food supply, roads and bridges,
and police services are destroyed, interrupted, or simply do not
exist.
