Greenbriar students raise awareness about making positive choices

Students at Greenbriar Senior Public School in Brampton are taking their message about making positive choices to the community. On Feb. 10, the Bee Positive Student Team will make two presentations at the Bramalea City Centre to raise awareness about the school's Bully-Free Zone program.

"At Greenbriar, we believe it's important to promote a safe school and community. Our Bully-Free Zone program helps students and staff recognize the signs of bullying," says Margaret Lane, guidance counsellor at Greenbriar. "With greater awareness of this issue, we help students resolve conflicts in a more positive manner."

The Bee Positive Student Team, made up of 10 students in grades 7 and 8, has worked to find ways to raise awareness of the program in the school and community. Last year the school was awarded with the City of Brampton Safe School award for this program.

The two half-hour presentations on Feb. 10 will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. outside of the Shoppers Drug Mart at the Bramalea City Centre, located at 25 Peel Centre Drive in Brampton. On March 6, the Bramalea City Centre will sponsor a Motivational Media presentation, designed to encourage positive behaviour and teach skills in conflict resolution. This event will be held for students at the school.
